Refrigerant Migration
- Causing cooling or refrigeration
- (refrigeration) the process of cooling or freezing (e.g., food) for preservative purposes
- any substance used to provide cooling (as in a refrigerator)
- causing cooling or freezing; "a refrigerant substance such as ice or solid carbon dioxide"
- (chemistry) the nonrandom movement of an atom or radical from one place to another within a molecule
- Movement of people to a new area or country in order to find work or better living conditions
- Seasonal movement of animals from one region to another
- the movement of persons from one country or locality to another
- Movement from one part of something to another
- a group of people migrating together (especially in some given time period)
Migration
The most spectacular natural phenomenon in the world: the Great Migration. In all, over 1.5 million animals -- primarily wildebeest, along with about 200,000 zebras and some gazelle -- travel 300-500 miles annually across the Serengeti ecosystem.
Contrary to popular belief, the migration is not a fixed event that happens at a particular time of the year. Rather, it is a year-round cyclical process, fueled by the vast herd's need for fresh water and grass. As the animals move on to new feeding grounds, they gradually move in a clockwise direction in the Serengeti ecosystem, with a short stay in Kenya's Maasai Mara. The rains largely determine the migration's movements and pace, making it difficult to predict exactly where the largest concentrations of hooved beasts will be at a specific point in time.
